Advancing Product Transparency: SAG Achieves ISO 14067 for Product Carbon Footprint
Advancing Product Transparency:
SAG Achieves ISO 14067 for Product Carbon Footprint
SAG Achieves ISO 14067 for Product Carbon Footprint
At SAG, we believe that the best technology should be built with the highest responsibility. Today, we are taking a major step forward in this mission.
Following our successful milestone to ISO 50001 and ISO 14064-1, we are proud to announce that SAG is the first RFID manufacturer in Taiwan and a pioneering leader to achieve ISO 14067 the international standard for the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF). This milestone represents our transition from monitoring "how we operate as a company" to "how we design and produce every single product" with the planet in mind.

What is ISO 14067?
ISO 14067 is the internationally recognized standard for the mandatory and quantifiable calculation of the product carbon footprint (PCF). It expresses the total climate impact as a mass of CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e) per unit. This certification represents the transition from generic emission factors to scientific, traceable product data, effectively filling the carbon data gap often found in supply chain.
The System Boundary: From Cradle-to-Gate
Following the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach required by the standard, SAG has verified cradle-to-gate system boundary. This boundary encompasses the entire product lifecycle from initial resource extraction through to the final point of completion at our manufacturing facility:
- The Cradle (Raw Material Stage): Quantification of greenhouse gas emissions originating from the extraction and processing of raw materials, including their transport to our sites.
- The Gate (Production Stage): All energy consumption and resource utilization during the manufacturing, assembly, and final packaging phases within SAG’s operational control.

SAG Green Ecosystem
For SAG, sustainability is a multi-layered commitment. By integrating four major international standards, we have created a Green Ecosystem that addresses environmental impact from every angle. This comprehensive approach sets SAG apart as a leader in the global supply chain, offering a level of transparency in RFID manufacturing:
- Infrastructure (LEED): Our foundation begins with our physical workspace. Achieving LEED Silver certification for our facility ensures that our operational base is designed for energy efficiency, water conservation, and a reduced carbon footprint.
- Energy Efficiency ( ISO 50001): We actively manage how we consume power. This standard provides the framework for our energy management system, allowing us to continuously optimize the efficiency of our production lines and reduce overall energy waste.
- Organizational Responsibility (ISO 14064-1): This serves as our corporate-level oversight. By conducting a comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory, we maintain transparency regarding our total carbon emissions as an organization.
- Product Accountability (ISO 14067): The newest addition to our ecosystem focuses on the individual unit. It provides the granular, Cradle-to-Gate data needed to quantify the specific impact of the products we deliver.
Connecting Forward to a Net Zero Future
The achievement of ISO 14067 is an important milestone in SAG’s journey toward Net Zero by 2050. As global industries shift toward greater accountability by Digital Product Passports (DPP) and Green IoT, the need for transparent, verified product data has never been higher.
By providing Cradle-to-Gate footprints, we empower our partners to meet global carbon regulations with confidence. Moving forward, we will continue to optimize our production process to reduce emissions at the source, ensuring that every solution we deliver contributes to a more sustainable world.
At SAG, Connecting Forward means more than just technological innovation, it means taking responsibility for the footprint of every connection we make.
